Viking Iron Works Inc. Open Die Steel Forgings
Since 1971 VIKING IRON WORKS Inc. has been forging steel at it's Poughkeepsie, NY facility. Viking presently maintains TWO 1500 lb. open die forging hammers and one 3000lb. double leg supported by twin custom built 2000 lb. forging manipulators. Our six forge furnaces, burning both natural gas and oil can accommodate bar lengths up to 10 feet. Our forging capacities are from several ounces to 2000 pounds, depending on part geometry and material grain flow requirements.
Some of the more common geometries are shown below with the maximum sizes also stated. Please note that these are for example purposes only, material grade and grain flow requirements can alter our max capacities
